"We Dress" Sign:
 |
|
|
Here is a very old sign from the Illinios
River region around Henry, IL, maybe Senachwine lake. It reads... "We
Dress" then a painting of a "duck" (we dress ducks here), and here at
the bottom (paint cut off). I believe this sign was used many many years
from the 1930's & 40's on, probably till the late 70's+. As you can see
it has been used and painted over more than once. It has seen his better
day but is still a very nostalgic and rare vintage hunting collectible
from the epicenter of the prime duck hunting region in IL. This sign is
about 15" by 22" one sided only constructed of two wide boards. The back
has no paint. Price $199.00 |

Rocket Tailed Roller:
 |
|
|
Here
is a wonderful “Rocket Tailed Roller” by noted carver Frank Finney. This bird is
perched upon what would appear to be a fence corner post top. The colors are
antiqued but remain vibrant and very vivid. It has wonderful patina and appears
to be a vintage item. It probably already is 25 to 35 + years old. However Mr.
Finney from what I’ve heard does still carve and this item may not be that old.
I will let the final owner decide. I’m fairly certain that the birds eyes are
glass and that the rest of the carving is wood. The outside of each tail feather
does appear to have been broken off. Not sure how long they would have been but
I’m thinking they would have been turned up feathers and very fragile. It is
still a super nice carving and very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Mr.
Finney’s carvings have enjoyed some great success at auctions in the recent
past. Due to this his carvings have become increasingly difficult to obtain. Get
this rare species here and now to start or add to your collection. This bird is
about 6.5” long tip of tail to tip of beak. The base is 3 ¾” wide. $849.00. |

please ask if interested. The neck has been broken and re-glued, overall it is
in pretty good condition. Thank you for your interest. Priced to sell quick at

HERON LAKE DUCK CALL:
 |
|
|
HERON LAKE DUCK CALL. Here is a very rare collectible A D Sontag Heron
Lake (MN) duck call. It is quite large being about 6 3/4" long and
almost 1 7/8" wide. From my understanding the barrel of the call is
original and very old. Marv Meyer hand-made the stopper and "guts" for
this and the other calls that were found. He signed them as seen in the
photos. These calls are very collectible and there are not very many
known to exist so get them now whilst you can. Thank you very much for
your interest in my auctions. If you have any questions please ask prior
to bidding, I'll do my best to answer them and will get back to everyone
that asks. We do prefer that all sales are final. Please also view my

Wood Duck Hen:
 |
|
|
Wood
duck hen coming out of her nest (a burl) with chick under breast. This piece was
found in a box of burls that Charly Perdew had "put away". He used the burls for
stands and mounting miniature/decorative duck decoys. This piece sold at the
Perdew estate sale several years back. The winner was lucky and found this piece
in the bottom of the box. The burl is a little under 4" long and 3" wide. Superb
craftmanship only as Charly could imagine. Here is a chance to own a mint Charly
Perdew carved and painted minty original piece. They don't come along very often
and if you even think you like it... you better buy it. All of Charlies
miniatures were one of kind. So get it now while you can. You can visit my ebay
store to see more photos of the piece. It will be priced a little higher to
account for all of the fees. Thank you for looking. 1,750.00. |

Charles Perdew Miniature Drake Mallard:
 |
|
Charles
Perdew Miniature Drake Mallard
Here you have a superb example of a miniature drake mallard with flapping
wings in the raised position. This little mini has a nice early patina with
either Edna or Charley paint, you be the judge. Here is another mini that came
directly from the Perdew estate sale. It has a small tag on the bottom that
reads "Perdew Estate" and then some numbers. Also written on the bottom is
Mallard #2 and then Mrs. and a name that appears to start with a T but I can't
make out the rest. This is very nice little Perdew mini. If you compare Charley
Perdews minis with Elmer Crowell minis you will notice that Perdew's are a
little scarcer, and likely undervalued as of late. Please ask any questions and
if you want to see detailed photos, check out my ebay store as I plan to list a
few of these mini's on there. Just click on the link that says my ebay store.
The condition is very good on this one with only a little crack in the paint on
the left leg. Overall structurally this one is in great shape and the paint is
in excellent condition as well. $2,750.00.

Charles Perdew Miniature Pintail Drake:
 |
|
Charles
Perdew Miniature Pintail Drake
Here is a superb rare miniature by Charles Perdew of Henry IL. Pintail Drakes or
any carvings of this size (about 1/4) are extremely rare and very collectible.
This one is in great condition both structurally and also paint. The paint was
likely done by Charley. I have a collection of miniatures that I recently
acquired from one person. Some were purchased directly from the estate sale of
the Perdew household, which I believe was an auction held by Guyette & Schmidt
about 5 to 7 years ago. I believe that there are a couple minis in this
collection that were painted by Edna. Please get a hold of me with questions. I
may also have listed these at a higher price in my ebay store, go there to see
more and detailed photos. This pintail drake is about the size of a large Elmer
Crowell miniature, being about 4" long. A very rare size indeed for a Charles
Perdew. Also note the raised wings, metal legs and painted on feet. This is one
of a kind as Charly used whatever left over wood he had to make his minis.
$2500.00. |
